Thursday Photo #138

I nearly didn’t write this post today. You may think there’s some philosophical reason for this, but if that’s the case you’re crediting me with too much intelligence. The sad fact of the matter is that I had no idea it was Thursday. Christmas week The past week has been a lovely break from the norm. We’ve seen family, walked the dogs, relaxed at home and played games. We’ve eaten too much, drank too much and made New Year’s resolutions that we’re determined to stick to this time. My husband and I have both been to the pub with friends and…

Tiny Trolls of Norway Review

A couple of months ago, I started to notice the Tiny Trolls of Norway brand on social media. I was impressed. Their outdoor clothing for children aged 1 to 8 years old looked so warm and comfortable that I was a bit jealous they didn’t make it for adults. A few weeks ago, Tiny Trolls of Norway got in touch to ask if I’d like to review some of their clothing. Sadly, they hadn’t started making it for adults, but the girls were keen to test it out. All of the tiny trolls clothing looked such amazing quality that I…

Sugar Detox to get healthy in the New Year

I don’t know about you, but I’m done with the excesses of Christmas. But I’m not done with it in a ‘ready to stop’ sort of way. I’m just looking to my annual January health kick, and this year it will involve a sugar detox. Christmas is the one time when I manage to totally stop working for a few days and relax. And like most people, this results in self-reflection and a few life-changes for the New Year. Health-wise, I feel like I’m on a slippery slope at the moment. I’m consistently attempting to eat better, exercise more and…

Where did this week go?? It has been lovely to have Libby home from school and we’ve really been making the most of it. Friday was the last day of term, so we picked her up from school with the dogs and luggage loaded into the car and we headed straight to Manchester to stay with the same friends who came with us to Blairmore Farm earlier in the year. We spent a lovely day with them looking around the Christmas market and both girls were devastated when it was time to come home on Sunday morning. We would usually…

Cucina Rustica Birmingham Review

Today I headed into Birmingham for lunch at Cucina Rustica Italian restaurant. Cucina Rustica is based in the Jewellery Quarter, which is about a 10 minute walk from New Street train station and Grand Central shopping centre. They serve authentic Italian food in a relaxed, bar-like atmosphere. Their cocktails are pretty good too! Cucina Rustica Starters When we arrived, we were given a copy of the large Cucina Rustica menu and their smaller specials menu. We were also treated to a basket of bread and olives whilst we browsed the menus. I went for the Funghi con Panna starter, which…

Reroute Santa to make sure he finds you this Christmas!

This is a collaborative post. Do your children worry whether Santa will find them if they’re not at home over Christmas? It can be a bit of a worry if they’re travelling or staying with family away from their usual address. Luckily, Reroute Santa is a new website that allows children to let Santa know where they’ll be this year. Reroute Santa review We’re staying at home this year for Christmas. But I thought it would still be fun to let Santa know where we’d be. Reroute Santa is really easy to use with just three boxes to fill in. You…

10 cheap holiday activities for children

This time of year is SO flipping expensive isn’t it?? Presents, Christmas dinner, days out, Santa visits, festive food and drink. You name it, you’ve got to buy it. Then you throw bored children into the mix. Finding cheap holiday activities for children can be hard going but it’s definitely possible. Here are my top 10. 1. Bake I don’t know about yours, but my children love to bake. It’s something I don’t do enough with them during term time because we just can’t seem to find the time. So during Christmas holidays, we get stuck in. This year, the girls…
