Attractions reopening across the UK as lockdown eases

With lockdown in the process of easing across the UK, many attractions are reopening. As most of us gear up for staycations this summer, it is useful to know what’s on in the area you are visiting as well as your local area. I’ve put together a roundup post to pull together loads of information. Instead of turning this into one huge list, I’m linking to blog posts, articles and websites where you can find local information. For ease, I’ve divided it up into England, Scotland and Wales and then alphabetically by county within England. There is a table of contents below to jump to the section you are looking for.

Attractions reopening in England this summer

England’s lockdown has eased the most widely and the most quickly so lots of places are starting to reopen. Sadly, some places are not yet ready to open or may not reopen at all. However, these posts detail the attractions that are either open already or gearing up to open soon.

What’s open in Bedfordshire?

For a great list of of things to do outdoors in Bedfordshire this summer, visit Flying With a Baby. She gives information about each attraction as well as its website link and opening date.

Attractions opening in Berkshire

As well as family days out, Muddy Stilettos provides a list of all sorts of venues that are now open in Berkshire. Pubs, restaurants, cafes and hairdressers all get a name check, as well as links to their websites so you can get the most up to date information.

Summer 2020 in Bristol

There is a small list of places now open or soon to be reopening in Bristol on the Visit Bristol website, including a mention of toilet facilities. However, it is a very short list and they advise checking particular places individually before travelling.

Visiting Buckinghamshire in 2020

A good list of attractions has been produced by Visit Buckinghamshire. You can see which attractions are fully open and which remain closed at present but offer online content instead. There is also some information about social distancing measures at attractions that are reopening.

Cambridgeshire after lockdown

So far, I’ve completely failed to find a list of attractions reopening in Cambridgeshire. The only thing I can suggest is checking this days out guide and clicking through to each individual attraction to see whether they’re open. I will update this post as soon as I find an alternative.

What’s happening in Cheshire this summer?

There is a great list of attractions reopening in East Cheshire produced by East Cheshire Mumbler. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything similar for the rest of Cheshire. However, there is a comprehensive list of attractions on the Visit Cheshire website so you can click through to check directly with individual attractions. Just scroll down past the bit at the top telling you everything is closed – it’s out of date!

Things to do in Cornwall summer 2020

There is a great list of attractions that are open in Cornwall over on Flying With a Baby. Each listing has some information about opening dates and times and a link to their website.

What’s open in Cumbria this summer?

In Cumbria, the best list of attractions and Covid-19 guidance is provided by the Lake District National Park. There’s a link at the top of the page allowing you to check car parks and toilets. Additionally, scroll down further for places to visit and attractions. From there it is wise to check with each individual attraction to see whether they are open.

Reopening in Derbyshire

Derbyshire is covered by the extensive guide to what’s reopening around the East Midlands produced by Our Bucket List Lives. They look at when each place opens and any restrictions around the opening, including which parts will be closed. Additionally, Peak District Kids has a great list of things to do this summer that has been updated with what’s open and social distancing measures that are in place.

Devon attractions open in July and August

For a comprehensive list of what’s on in Devon this summer, check out Devon With Kids. Their post covers various categories of places to visit along with whether it is open and a note if you need to book.

What’s going on in Dorset this Summer

The best option for finding out what’s going on in Dorset this summer is to head to the Visit Dorset website. Click through to a particular section and it tells you the latest updates from each attraction, including whether it is opening and whether booking is required.

What’s on in Durham summer 2020

Durham is included in the excellent guide to what’s on in the North East this summer written by North East Family Fun. The guide is divided up by category rather than area and covers the whole of the North East. It includes website links so you can check the latest information.

Attractions open in Sussex this summer

There is a brief list of attractions open in Sussex on Muddy Stilettos. Additionally, the Beautiful South tourist website have a list of days out. This doesn’t mention whether they are open but it has links to individual websites so you can check whether each one has reopened.

What’s open in Essex right now?

To find out what’s open in Essex, head to the Visit Essex website. The site is divided into categories and you can click through to each one to discover a list of attractions. Many of those have up to date information as to opening arrangements. Website links are also available so you can check directly with the venue.

Days out reopening in Gloucestershire 2020

For family days out in and around Gloucestershire, head to Red Kite Days. They have put together an alphabetical list of family attractions opening in the area along with any restrictions and booking requirements.

What to do in Hampshire

There is a great list of things to do outdoors in Hampshire this summer on Flying With a Baby. Each listing has some information about opening dates and times and a link to their website.

Things to do in Herefordshire summer 2020

What has reopened in Hertfordshire?

Visit Herts have produced some guidance on staying safe on days out, as well as an alphabetical list of what’s open. Their post includes some guidance on whether pre-booking is essential, the opening date and a link to find further information.

What can families do on the Isle of Wight?

If you are heading to the Isle of Wight this summer, Visit Isle of Wight can help you to find days out. They have some guidance on staying safe and a searchable list of attractions. When you find the place you’re interested in, you can go to the updated information section and they also advise visiting individual websites for full details.

Family adventures in Kent this summer

If you’re looking for a family adventure in Kent, Juggling on Roller Skates have got you covered. The post lets you know when places are opening or whether they are already open. It also tells you what you can do there and what they’ve done to make the place safe. It is still worth checking individual websites for up to date information on things like playgrounds.

Search days out in Lancashire

Visit Lancashire have a searchable resource to let you know what’s going on there this summer. You can check particular attractions or look at their recommendations by category. There’s also a Know Before You Go section for information on how to stay safe whilst visiting.

Leicestershire

Lincolnshire

Things that are open in London

As you would expect, a vast array of attractions have reopened in London. To see what’s open already and which things are soon to be reopening, head to the extremely comprehensive post put together by Mummy Travels. Everything is categorised, there is some information about what’s happening at each place and it will be regularly updated.

What’s open in Manchester?

Visit Manchester have put together a great list of things that have reopened. It includes shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, tours and events as well as attractions such as days out.

When are things reopening in Merseyside?

In their blog, Visit Liverpool list attractions that have reopened and those that will be opening soon. For each one, there is a website link if available and a predicted date of opening.

What’s happening in Norfolk this summer?

There are two great posts about things that are open in Norfolk. Check out Flying With a Baby for a comprehensive list of things open in Norfolk right now. You can also find lots of information on the Norfolk and Suffolk attractions website.

How to find out what’s open in Northamptonshire

I haven’t managed to find a list of attractions that have reopened in Northamptonshire. However, Visit Northamptonshire have a list of attractions in and around the area. From their list, you can click on each venue to find out more about it, then through to their website for up to date coronavirus information.

The Norfolk and Suffolk attractions page gives some great suggestions of things to do in the area. It also has information on whether they are open now or opening soon and relevant website links.

Surrey attractions that can’t wait to welcome you back

If you’re in Surrey this summer, there are two great articles that you will find useful. National Trust fans will love this list from PODcast Dove of places to visit. You’ll need to check the individual websites for full information about opening hours and booking. In general, National Trust properties open for booking every Friday for the coming week. Additionally, Visit Surrey have a list of things that are reopening. The post starts with some safety information, you’ll need to scroll down to find the list of attractions.

Across Wales, large tourist destinations are starting to reopen. Wales Online has a list of the bigger attractions that will be open this summer. Additionally, the Visit Wales website has lots of information on visiting safely. They list key dates in Wales when things can open up and can guide you to some of the smaller attractions and venues that will be reopening soon.
