There are some lovely things to do in Shropshire and the surrounding areas for October half term and Halloween 2025. Apley Farm Shop Shropshire October half term

Enjoy a spooktacular Halloween at Apley farm shop. There will be a storyteller outside the shop to greet you as you head off on the Pumpkin Express. Travel through fields and pick your pumpkin. Enjoy a game of pumpPIN bowling and head to the creepy cavern to carve or paint a pumpkin with the help of the Apley witch. There will even be rides, face-painting and hook a duck to enjoy. They advise booking early and wearing suitable clothing and footwear for this outdoor event that takes place in fields.

Blists Hill Victorian Town

Choose between a daytime event or a spooky after-dark visit to Blists Hill Victorian Town this October half term.

Shrieks and treats

Celebrate October half term with a spooky Victorian twist at Blists Hill Victorian Town! Families can enjoy trick-or-treat trails, pumpkin and gothic literature trails for different ages, and hands-on activities like dipping rainbow witch wands, playing Sweep-the-Rat, or printing in the Victorian printshop. Each day also features a spooktacular story show with infamous Blists Hill characters and plenty of audience participation for all ages.

Dates: 25th October to 2nd November 2025.

Ghostly gaslight

Step back in time for a Halloween like no other as Ghostly Gaslight returns to Blists Hill, transforming the Victorian town into a spine-chilling ghost village for one night only. Expect creepy costumed characters lurking in the shadows, eerie happenings inside the exhibits, and streets dressed for the scariest night of the year. With actors, special effects and plenty of frights around every corner, it’s a night of Victorian-inspired horror and hauntings not to be missed. Anybody aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Boscobel House English Heritage Shropshire October half term

Whilst there’s no particular event listed at Boscobel House this half term, it’s well worth a visit to find out how King Charles II used it as a place of refuge after defeat in the Civil War. See the priest hole he spent a night in and hear tales of his visit. Stroll down to see a descendant of the oak tree Charles hid in all day while Cromwell’s soldiers were searching for him. Don’t forget to visit the playground, take part in interactive stories and activities and find out about courtly etiquette.

Enginuity

Get hands-on this Halloween at Coalbrookdale with a special workshop where kids can create their own mechanical toys, from flapping bats to moving monsters or flying ghosts. Glow-in-the-dark paint adds a spooky twist to these fun creations. No pre-booking is needed—just buy your ticket on arrival, though busy periods may mean a short wait for a spot in the workshop.

Exotic Zoo Shropshire October half term

This Halloween, the zoo gets a spooky makeover! Explore haunted woods, pick your own pumpkin, and enjoy all the usual animal zones. Other activities include pumpkin picking, Creepy Crawly Cave, tarantula meet & greets, bush-tucker trials, and plenty of photo opportunities. New for 2025, Nighttime at the Zoo lets you trick-or-treat through the haunted woods after dark, meet witches, vampires and zombies, see nocturnal animals in action, carve pumpkins, and join in spooky crafts in the Creepy Cafe—all included with your ticket.

Daytime event dates: From 18th October 2025.

Hawkstone Park Follies

There’s no particular event listed at Hawkstone Park Follies this October half term and Halloween at the time of writing. However, it’s worth checking closer to the time. They’re open for general walks and discovery tours until 31st October 2025. Discover the history of Hawkstone Park Follies on a guided Discovery Tour. Your guide will welcome you with a complimentary hot or cold drink, introduce the Follies, and provide a guidebook before taking you to key sites including The White Tower, The Monument, Swiss Bridge, The Hermitage, and the caves at Grotto Hill. For an extra £10, you can also visit the 12th-century Red Castle ruins, a rare Rock Cut Castle. The tour combines walking and Landrover transport, so you can tailor the experience to your group’s mobility and energy levels.

Park Hall Farm

Head to Park Hall Farm for Pumpkin Fest this October half term. All paying children will be able to choose a free pumpkin to take home. Pumpkin carving equipment is on hand in the pumpkin shed, so you can scoop out and carve it at the farm. Other entertainment includes a spooky trail, pumpkin alley and the little scare house if you’re feeling brave. For extra Halloween fun, play a game of Mummy Wrap or Pass the Pumpkin or listen to the singing pumpkins. Usual farm activities, indoor and outdoor play, a tractor ride and the role play village are all open too.

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre October Half Term

Test your puzzle-solving skills at the Discovery Centre’s family-friendly escape room! Work together to crack clues and unlock your team members’ certificates, with activities suitable for different ages and abilities. Tickets are £4.50 per accompanied child (ages 4–11), and all groups must be supervised by an adult.

Stokesay Castle

While there’s not yet an event listed this half term, it’s a good time to explore the historic charm of Stokesay, a moated manor house with a timber-framed gatehouse and parish church, largely unchanged since 1291. While built like a castle, it was actually a lightly defended mansion. Visitors can enjoy an engaging audio tour, and families can take part in a puzzle quest inspired by local legends. Just outside, the dog-friendly cottage tearoom offers outdoor seating, a play area, and stunning views of the Welsh Border hills.
