Woods Alive

Most weekends we try to get out and about at least one of the days. After a hideous day of rain yesterday, this morning was looking a bit more promising.  Breakfast was rather a relaxed affair with poached eggs on toast and chocolate croissants on the menu. Lia is able to feed herself now, but she hasn’t quite got the hang of doing it without any mess.  So after a rather urgent clean up and clothing change, we headed to the Worcester Woods Country Park. Today, they had woodland crafts and working shire horses in the woods for their Woods…

Winter sunshine

I think that my lack of time at the moment is making me really appreciate the times when I do manage to get out into the sunshine.  This weekend has been incredibly busy with work and I have loads on for the whole week. Unfortunately I had to cancel my long run yesterday afternoon due to time constraints, but we’d had a walk planned for weeks so I found the time to go.  I was delighted that I did, it was such a beautiful day. Slimbridge Wetland Centre

It’s a while since we’ve been to The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust Slimbridge Wetland Centre, in fact this was Libby the last time we went.  We decided that this was much too long ago, so we headed there today. National Trust Croome

I’ve always thought that days out as a family were a really important part of growing up, but with two children, it becomes really expensive for us all to go out. We’ve had our National Trust membership for a couple of years now, and it’s a really economical way to have regular days out without paying a fortune. We have visited numerous National Trust sites across the country, but one of our favourites is our local one at Croome in Worcestershire, so that’s where we headed to today. We met up with a couple of our friends and spent the morning walking…

Through the eyes of a tourist

Do you make the most of your local area, or are there local attractions that you’ve never experienced? Would a visitor be able to inform you of places you weren’t even aware of? Sometimes it’s a great idea to look at your surroundings through the eyes of a tourist. This morning, Libby was in nursery so I headed up onto the Malvern hills with Lia and Pluto. I have always loved winter mornings in Malvern, I genuinely can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. Even the view from our decking this morning was pretty enough for me to want…
