Thursday Photo #118
This past week, we’ve been taking things quite easy. Lots of swimming and a few mornings at home to allow for the dreaded potty training. Lia has been ready to come out of nappies for a while, and she is capable of mastering the potty – as she has demonstrated. Unfortunately, she is also very, very stubborn.
So potty training is progressing – but it’s doing so rather more slowly than it ever did with Libby. Lia’s not yet ready for going out without a nappy, but she’s managing to use the potty most of the time while we’re at home, and in her own sweet time she’ll be out of nappies altogether.
We’ve been using cloth nappies from day one, I bought some one-size cloth nappies before I had Libby and we haven’t looked back. Using cloth nappies was the best decision we ever made, but that doesn’t make me any less ready to see the back of the things. Every time Lia uses the potty it reminds me how much easier things will be in just a few weeks time when she’s out of nappies.
Yesterday, I had a meeting at Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham, and it was the first blogging event I’d been to on my own. It was great to catch up with some other bloggers and meet the Grand Central team, and much as I missed the girls it was also nice to be me for a few hours instead of just being mum.
Next weekend, I head to the Black Forest in Germany and it will be the first time I’ve ever left the girls for more than a few hours. I can’t wait for my trip which I know will be amazing, but I really am going to miss them.
Today has been a bit of a vintage day. We headed to Cheltenham with my granddad’s 1930’s accordion to try and get it mended. While we were there, we grabbed some lunch in an old-style American diner called Smokey Joe’s. The girls spent a fun hour dancing away to the rock-and-roll music, so after lunch we headed over to the jukebox for a photo.
Our Thursday Photo #118 could have been taken in any era – two cheeky little girls enjoying themselves. I love the looks on their faces, it’s a photograph that shows their respective characters despite just being a quick snap on my phone.
