Our Thursday Photo #42

Lia is now 42 weeks old. For the record, that’s how long I was pregnant with her for. I’m sorry if you are coming up to your 40th week of pregnancy but for me, pregnancy just doesn’t last 40 weeks. Anyway, enough of that pregnancy talk, I can safely say never again.  This week has been one of those quietly monumental weeks for all of us. Lia has really come out of herself and blossomed into a little person. She is pulling herself up on everything, crawling incredibly well and interacting with everyone.  Libby has today received her first pair…

This week has been mainly about Libby, just the way she likes it. We’ve been to the eye hospital with her twice and they have realised that her sight isn’t too good and given her a prescription for some glasses.  We’re off to choose the glasses on Saturday and I’m hoping it will make a huge difference to her. Ah 40 weeks. I knew there was something that rang a bell about that number. Apparently it’s how long a pregnancy is supposed to last. Not so for me, I was induced both times. So I should be able to tell you that Lia has now been out as long as she was in. But not just yet, give me another couple of weeks. But I’m not bitter.  So, Lia’s 40th week could only possibly be classed as busy. I’ve had quite a bit of work on for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve had so much on that…

I’m very aware of how much both girls are growing up and changing each week, but occasionally something really makes me stop and think about it.  This week, the trigger has been lots of talk about school. I overheard a conversation earlier in the week about the problem parents face when taking school age children on holiday.  Some people were willing to take their children out of school to avoid the price hikes during holidays and all of them were complaining about the fact that they could be penalised for doing so.  We’re not yet in that position ourselves, but…

Our Thursday Photo #38

Libby has been busy making herself the centre of attention this week. At a time when I hear on the news that children are no longer learning to speak properly because of their reliance on iPads and computers, Libby is proving them all wrong.  This evening, I put Lia to bed and went to see Libby. She comes and sits with me for a few minutes after Lia has fallen asleep. When I went in today, the conversation went something like this:  Libby: Is Lia asleep?  Me: Yeah, she is.  Libby: She’s very good now isn’t she? She’s sleeping well…
