I can’t believe it’s only a few days since New Year’s eve. It seems like the festive period ended a lifetime ago. Libby is back to school, Lia is back to playgroup and nursery and it’s business as usual here. Unfortunately on New Year’s eve, my husband had to go away due to family illness. This has left me struggling to find more hours in the day. I’m only managing to get the dogs out once a day – in the morning. Which means that they’re waking me up several times each night to go out. Bubbles in particular needs a lot…

I’m happy to say that this week has been notably better than last week. We’ve managed a trip to Drayton Manor, a lovely day out in Birmingham and a relatively small number of toddler meltdowns. All in all, I class that as a good week. Libby has settled in brilliantly at nursery and loves going every day. I may have flattered myself a little bit when I thought she was going to be upset at me leaving and that she might miss me just a little bit. She couldn’t care less. Lia has had a surprisingly productive week for a 16…

I’ve been thinking a lot this week, as I often do, about doing the right thing.  It’s something I’ve got a real bee in my bonnet about at the moment, because I always feel like I’m fighting a losing battle. There is always someone with something negative to say, however hard I try.  Whilst I tend to consider this predominantly in regard to myself, I also notice it in regard to people who are close to me.  An example over the past couple of weeks was when a friend of mine performed a random act of kindness.  Mel is a…

This week, for some reason things seem to have fallen into place.  Lia has been sleeping a lot better for a while now, but I hadn’t really managed to make the most of it and get my own life in order. I was still working until around 2 am most nights, sometimes even later.  So, towards the end of last week I decided to cut down on my work for a few days. I didn’t stop completely, but took on notably less for four days. We didn’t go away or do anything in particular, I just got back into a…

Lia is now 42 weeks old. For the record, that’s how long I was pregnant with her for. I’m sorry if you are coming up to your 40th week of pregnancy but for me, pregnancy just doesn’t last 40 weeks. Anyway, enough of that pregnancy talk, I can safely say never again.  This week has been one of those quietly monumental weeks for all of us. Lia has really come out of herself and blossomed into a little person. She is pulling herself up on everything, crawling incredibly well and interacting with everyone.  Libby has today received her first pair…

Ah 40 weeks. I knew there was something that rang a bell about that number. Apparently it’s how long a pregnancy is supposed to last. Not so for me, I was induced both times. So I should be able to tell you that Lia has now been out as long as she was in. But not just yet, give me another couple of weeks. But I’m not bitter.  So, Lia’s 40th week could only possibly be classed as busy. I’ve had quite a bit of work on for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve had so much on that…

I’m very aware of how much both girls are growing up and changing each week, but occasionally something really makes me stop and think about it.  This week, the trigger has been lots of talk about school. I overheard a conversation earlier in the week about the problem parents face when taking school age children on holiday.  Some people were willing to take their children out of school to avoid the price hikes during holidays and all of them were complaining about the fact that they could be penalised for doing so.  We’re not yet in that position ourselves, but…
