Things to do in Shropshire summer holidays 2026

With the Shropshire summer holidays 2026 rapidly approaching, it’s time for a list of things to do in the area. Lots of attractions have events taking place this year, both indoors and outside. From family trails to fun days and activity camps, there’s lots to see and do around Shropshire.

If you’re on a budget, check out my post about free things to do in Shropshire as well. If you’re planning on booking any of these attractions in Shropshire, do check out my post about discount deals on UK attractions and days out. There are often quite a few discounts available in the local area, so I personally resent paying full price!

For holiday clubs in Shropshire where you can drop the kids off to have fun without you, I’ve included Shropshire in my West Midlands holiday clubs 2026 info post.

This post covers the Shropshire area only. If you are looking for days out in nearby counties during the summer holidays, please see below:

Attingham Park National Trust

Summer of Play: Attingham Park is bringing Pokémon into the school holidays this year, with a special Pokémon-themed edition of the National Trust’s Summer of Play. Kids can hunt for Pokémon hidden around the grounds, take part in Pokémon-inspired crafts and activities, and enjoy the usual Summer of Play favourites like den-building, lawn games, and outdoor challenges. It’s a clever way to get reluctant explorers out into the fresh air — if they’re more into catching ’em all than climbing trees, this one’s for them.

Dates: 4th July to 31st August 2026.

Canoe Trail: Hire a Canadian Canoe for an hour to use on the River Tern.

Dates: Various dates from 20th July to 27th September 2026.

Blists Hill Victorian Town, Shropshire summer holidays 2026

Blists Hill is a lovely family day out with the added bonus of learning what life was like in the area during Victorian times. This year, things are a little bit different at Blists Hill as it has recently come under the management of the National Trust. They’ve not yet announced a summer holiday event, but they have confirmed they’re now open. All visitors need to pre-book and at the time of writing, booking isn’t available for the summer holidays but it does look as though they plan on opening.

Dates: Not yet announced.

Boscobel House English Heritage

Visit Boscobel House to find out how King Charles II used it as a place of refuge after defeat in the Civil War. See the priest hole he spent a night in and hear tales of his visit. Stroll down to see a descendant of the oak tree Charles hid in all day while Cromwell’s soldiers were searching for him. Don’t forget to visit the playground, take part in interactive stories and activities and find out about courtly etiquette.

Hawkstone Park Follies

Hawkstone Park Follies are open for most of the school summer holidays 2026, and they recommend booking online in advance to guarantee entry. There is no particular event on for the Summer holidays, but it is always a lovely place to explore as a family. The follies are set in a 100 acre parkland with caves, towers and bridges. The attraction is dog friendly as long as dogs are on a lead at all times. Only the visitor centre and Grand Valley are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Dates: Open daily from 1st July to 31st August 2026.
