Pets are part of the family and many of us put something extra under the Christmas tree for them. If you’re buying for an animal lover this year, this guide includes some great ideas for both the recipient and their pet.

Eco-friendly pet toothbrushes

Tooth care can now be better for the planet with the Woobamboo range of eco-friendly toothbrushes for the whole family. Brushes are available for adults, children and even pets. These pet toothbrushes are made with 95% less plastic than regular toothbrushes. They come in two sizes with biodegradable bamboo handles. An ideal stocking filler for a pet.

Cat’s Protection Christmas stocking

If you’re putting some stocking fillers together for your pet this Christmas, you’ll need a stocking to put them in. Buying a stocking or other gifts from the Cats Protection shop will ensure that other cats benefit as well this Christmas. Cats Protection help around 200,000 cats every year. Profits from their shop will help them to continue their work.

Nylabone Power Chews

If your dog is a chewer, a Nylabone Power Chew is an ideal stocking filler for both the dog and your belongings. When we first got Bubbles, she used to demolish everything in sight. It wasn’t the greatest trait when it came to bonding with the children because they left their toys lying around a lot. And she ate them, by the bucket load. These days though, she has improved notably and I think that’s due in part to her Nylabone. She carries it around everywhere and when she wants to chew something, it’s the Nylabone she goes to. Not the children’s toys, or my shoes. Nylabone Power Chews come in different shapes, sizes and flavours. An ideal for any chewy dog.

Nylabone Edibles Snacks

If your dog won’t put up with a chew they can’t actually eat, Nylabone have a new range of dog snacks that will placate them. Their healthy edible snacks are all natural and guilt-free with less than 1% fat. They’re good for dental hygiene as well as being a tasty treat for your dog.

Socks personalised with your pet’s face

Available in different colours and sizes, these personalised dog socks are the ultimate gift for anyone whose favourite child is their pet. Simply send Prezzybox a photo or two of your pet’s face and they’ll create your unique pair of socks.

Go gentle on me massage slicker

In the mornings when I brush the children’s hair, Bubbles stands in line and waits her turn. She’s a short-haired dog so she doesn’t really need brushing, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy it. A massage slicker has rubber bristles to trap loose hair and clean and stimulate the skin. It can be used on wet or dry fur and dogs love the feel of being brushed with it.

Pet Angel grooming brush

For long haired dogs, brushing can be a bit of a nightmare. It needs to be done so they don’t shed fur all over the house, but once it gets knotty, it’s no fun for either of you. The Pet Angel grooming brush is an ideal solution. It is antibacterial, easy to clean, anti-static, water-resistant and gentle. Brushing with this will leave dogs relaxed, tangle-free and shiny.

Pet nail grooming kit

Many pets need their claws cut regularly to ensure they don’t become uncomfortable. The Dremel Pet nail grooming kit grinds claws rather than cutting them. The process is similar to nail filing, so you can gently and easily trim your pet’s nails at home. It makes the process safer than cutting and ensures you don’t cause bleeding by cutting them too short.

Pick n Melt candles

I wouldn’t swap my dog for the world but I have to admit, she does stink. That’s why scented candles and wax melts are an inspired present for any pet owner. Better still, why not sign them up for a Pick n Melt monthly subscription? Every month, they’ll receive a selection of wax melts or candles in the post. They make the house smell absolutely divine, even when your pet has other ideas!

David Attenborough Box Set

I’ve never met an animal lover who didn’t love David Attenborough. Actually, I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like David Attenborough. This Christmas, BBC Studios have released a series of box sets, including the Life Collection. Ideal for snuggling up on the sofa during the festive period and indulging in 24 discs of everyone’s favourite broadcaster. The collection is available on Amazon, along with BBC box sets from numerous different genres.

Snoozer pet cave

A couple of years ago, I reviewed two dog caves from Snoozer UK. It was the first time in a long time we’d actually had a dog bed for our dogs. Before that, we’d got to a point where we were just buying them cheap duvets instead of beds because whatever we bought, they’d rip it to shreds. But dog caves caves are different. They consist of a bed with a cover on it, so the dogs can actually get into the bed. Two years on, we still have those beds. The dogs didn’t rip them up and they’re still going. The outer on them is removable, so it can be washed when they get a bit manky. They’re ideal for camping because dogs can go in there and get warm on a cold night. I will definitely buy another one when these finally give up the ghost and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Snoozer UK make a range of products for dogs. The cozy cave is a warm, cosy, washable dog bed that is so appealing I've emailed them to ask if they'd think about making one for humans!

  1. Hi Nat, what a fab selection of pet gifts. I can’t say I’ve ventured down the path of brushing any of our dogs teeth yet, although it has been suggested by the vet. Buddy nibbled the bobble off two of my hats when he was younger, luckily he grew out of chewing and now mainly chews olive wood for the fire, but I’m sure a Nylabone chew would be far better…. I’m seriously going to look into the Dremel nail grooming kit. I do groom the dogs myself and nail clipping is my least favorite job.Luckily their nails don’t need clipping often, but I’d rather grind than clip!… Doesn’t David Attenborough look young on that box set?

    1. Oh yes, I thought that about Attenborough too! The Dremel kit is great, I’ve never even attempted to cut the dogs claws myself, I’d rather ask the vet to do it. Much easier to file them. I’m very glad the dog toothbrushes are eco friendly, I like the idea of them but wouldn’t want to contribute to the plastic problem.
