Our Thursday photo #76

Things are slowly starting to improve here – my husband is finally home. He came home on Saturday and we’re slowly finding ways to make things work. Libby spends a bit of time with her dad in the afternoons to do some work on her numbers and letters. He also reads a story to each of them before bedtime so he is managing to be involved in looking after them in a small way. I have to admit I haven’t had the best week ever. We thought hubby would be home on Friday so I spent a good while on…

I’m a great believer in children having as much to teach us as parents as we teach them. This week has been no exception. I’ve learnt that children are masters of resilience. Grand masters actually. They’re the real deal, it doesn’t get any better. I don’t know why the past week has been so difficult for me. I’m not the one who is injured in hospital. I’m also not the one who too young to understand why her dad is suddenly no longer at home. And I’m not the one who is old enough to understand what’s going on in…

Sadly Libby, Lia and I are still limping along as a threesome this week, with their dad still not home from hospital after his accident. It’s pretty difficult being the only functioning adult in the household, especially as a freelancer as I have no capacity to stop working. It has made me more picky about the work I’m taking on though, even down to basics like replying to emails. I have always made sure that I reply to people emailing me about work, even if just out of courtesy. This past week, I’ve only been replying if I’m interested in…

I suppose there is always something good to come out of every bad thing. If you read my post yesterday about hearing bad news on twitter, you’ll know that this week has been a pretty bad one here as weeks go. So, what are the positives? Well, before it all started to go downhill we had a pretty good weekend. Libby did well in her swimming lesson and both girls watched their first rugby match. Libby couldn’t decide whether to cheer for Warriors (as instructed by us and everyone else around her) or Wasps. So she shouted for them both,…

I’m happy to say that this week has been notably better than last week. We’ve managed a trip to Drayton Manor, a lovely day out in Birmingham and a relatively small number of toddler meltdowns. All in all, I class that as a good week. Libby has settled in brilliantly at nursery and loves going every day. I may have flattered myself a little bit when I thought she was going to be upset at me leaving and that she might miss me just a little bit. She couldn’t care less. Lia has had a surprisingly productive week for a 16…
